 "Pleased with this product" 2010-01-10
By S. Camille Manning Broome (Baton Rouge, La)
We did a lot of research before purchasing this gps. I have overall been very pleased with this; however, ocassionally, it will lead me on a route that I know is not the best route. Also, on a recent trip to Flordia, it did not recognize the city that I was visiting. Nonetheless, I recommend this product. Oh, and the device that latches onto your ac vent so that you can see your gps, is the biggest pain. Go with the bag.

"It was good, but only for a few months." 2010-01-08
By J. Bennett (Los Angeles, CA)
I am very disappointed to need to right a review about how unhappy I am with this product. It was working great after I took it out of the box nearly 8 months ago. I even downloaded a female British voice from the GARMIN website which was a novelty, but helps me "really" listen to directions.

However, after 2-3 months of use the glitches began..crashing, freezing, etc. Usually I would turn the device off and on once or twice and it was fine. I even found out online how to reboot, yet this only solved problems temporarily.

After 6-7 months of use the device out right froze a few times and simply wouldn't turn on. I let it rest a couple days, charged it, rebooted and it said the MAPS were unavailable or something like that. A couple emails to customer support later and I received a CODE that reinstalled my MAPS and everything worked fine for another couple weeks.

When this couple week problem free era elapsed the device once again will simply not work. It freezes even after rebooting. UGH!

To ad more cherries on top of this disappointment the device was advertised as "lifetime free traffic"... What they don't tell you is that this only lasts a few months. Then you need to download the access for 50 bucks from GARMINs website.

My buddy picked up the next model at a black Friday sell recently and it appears the "lifetime free traffic" is now true! If I hear of a problem free usage I'll pick one up myself. As for now it was good, but only for a few months. This really bites, because I'm in sales an I actually need it.

I think now is the time to toss it in the trash and shop for something better.

"Beware where this takes you - use common sense!" 2010-01-07
By Man's Man (Chicago, IL)
This device is not so easy to use. Sometimes you just punch in the address (after entering the city name - why can't it tell you where you are?) and it gets you there. But, often via local roads. It's great to warn of congestion but I often have to reset it on the fly to take the best route. We used it in Italy where it worked well when we stayed on course. But, one time, we had a hard time getting on the AutoStrada and it made us cut through on orchard on a rutted road!

 "Great Nav" 2010-01-03
By Steven L. Inman
Works great! I would highly recommend. Great job with traffic. Easy to follow. Always get signal unless inside parking garage. Pronounces street very well. I had to pay $60 for lifetime traffic. It is probably worth it to avoid the commercials with the "free" traffic units.

I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it keeps forgetting what voice I have chosen and I have to re-enter my choice every few days. I updated the software and that did not cure the problem. Still, I would buy it again if I needed a new one.

 "Piece of Junk" 2009-12-30
By Queen Mean
I had a Garmin before and loved it. It served me well and so I decided to get another one for my other car, mostly because I kept forgetting to transfer my old one. So I bought this new Garmin. Within 2 weeks it froze and would not restart. I took it back, and replaced it with another one. While traveling back from the holidays, I got completely lost because of course, this stupid thing broke down again and would not even start. It's junk. There's something defective in the model, as I've had two now and they both are prone to freezing and not booting. Skip it. It's total junk and you'll end up halfway to nowhere and regretting it.
