 "Basic Review" 2009-10-26
By M. Demakas
Overall it is a very good pruduct. The voice command function works better than I anticipated. The Remote control "Button" installs easily on your steering wheel. This also works great. The Widescreen Touchscreen is nice size. No problems setting it up...right out of the box. Downloading songs (From my home computer)was very easy and is great to have on road trips.

The Product does have some minor flaws. First, the volume is pretty low (hard to hear direction prompts). Second, The funtion which sends the sounds to the vehicle's FM radio, is only useful if you are NOT near a city (interference is a huge problem).

I would buy this model again, or recommend it to a friend.

 "It's OK" 2009-10-25
By M. Acosta (Jacksonville, IL)
It's pretty easy to use. I like the voice feature. The price was right. I thought it came with bluetooth. I'm really disappointed that it didn't have elevation/altitude. Wish it was water resistant so I could use it on my bike.

 "Voice recognition not working?" 2009-10-23
By Frozen Toes McGee (Antarctica)
My voice recognition worked on day one, I updated the map and on day two the voice recognition feature stopped functioning.

I pulled out and re-installed the battery which hard reset the GPS (normally the device only goes into stand-by). After this hard reset, the 855 began recognizing speech again with no problem since.

We tried another brand first, returned it and bought the Garmin to try and we are very satisfied.

 "Like the Magellan better" 2009-10-22
By Brian Hofacre (Bay Area, CA)
Was used to the Magellan I had for the previous 2 years and found the Garmin does not have as many options for address entry or what it shows on the screen. The voice recognition is a nice feature and the unit works fairly well. It has already frozen up in a month as many times as the Magellan did in 2 years. Got the Garmin because it allows you to save more adresses than the Magellan. I need that feature for work.
