This was the best deal I've seen on this item anyplace!! It also included a free carrying case -- a value of $28. My son was well pleased w/this birthday gift. Came in a very timely fashion and in perfect condition.

I purchased this unit to replace another GPS I have and did not wish to pay a subscription price to get a new map with a recently opened bridge which I use. The other manufacturer could not even tell me if the bridge was in their latest map update, so I purchased the TomTom hoping I might get the new bridge in their maps. When it arrived, it worked fine right out of the box but did not even have my home location on it's map. I've lived in my home 1-1/2 years and was sure the "free" update that came with the unit would have my street and address available. Five days of download attempts (3 hrs. each attempt)and four calls for technical support were needed to finally get the "free" update loaded onto my TomTom. My home address, nor the bridge (opened last August 1), were on the latest map. My TomTom is it's box waiting to be junked.

I have purchased two of these units over the last month, and gotten a total of less than two hours of use out of them. The problem is the mini USB plug on the bottom of the unit; in both cases, I plugged the unit into my computer to update it, then found myself unable to unplug the cable from the unit when done. The design of the cable is such that it is almost flush to the bottom of the unit once plugged in, giving very little surface area to grab onto when you want to remove it. In my case, the cable actually broke off in the bottom of the unit both times, and was lodged in the receptactle so firmly as to not be able to be removed--even when using needle nose pliers.
The unit itself seems fairly easy to use; though in my limited time with it, the mapping seemed inaccurate. Given that I have suffered the same failure twice in succession, under routine circumstances, I will be replacing my TomTom with a different brand GPS.

I bought this product 2 days ago at Costco. The ad gave me an impression that the item speaks street names (it does not). I tried it for 24 hours to several different destinations: it does not give the most practical and easy road instructions. Also, mounting apparatus is terrible, it does not hold onto any surface. I had tried a Garmin 265WT before on a rental car, all the above mentioned issues either did not exist or were much better. I returned TomTom in 24 hours and plan on buying a Garmin 265WT.
