"Love this, but there are a few glitches" 2009-12-16
By Richard E. Hanson (Mill Creek, WA)
I am really pleased overall with this, but it's not perfect. It is quite accurate in most respects. Unfortunately, one of the major accuracy glitches is where I live. It is a confusing street, but the mapping is provided ny Navteq, and I have gone on their website and reported the glitch. It may take a few months to get updated, and if and when it does, I will update this review. Other than that, I have only had one instance where it puts me on the wrong side of the street.

Features: The Bluetooth alone is worth it. It is strong and far superior to my headset, and when you get a phonecall, you don't get interupted with announcements. The free traffic reporting is great and you only see the ads when you start up, never while you're navigating. The big disappointment is the FM transmitter. It works fine in rural areas, but in urban areas it is too weak and there is a lot of static. I wanted it to listen to the MP3 music, The built in speakers are very good, but not something you want to listen to great music on. One reviewer suggested a cassette adapter. I have one, but it didn't work. I will try it on something else to see if it's the adapter or the GPS unit. Another great feature is the lane indicator.

Navigation: What really impresses me, is how quickly it recalculates. Usually within 3-5 seconds max, and it has never had me make a U turn, but has always recalculated a new direction based on where I was heading. I wish it had a way to pre-program your routes. It may have, but I haven't figured it out yet. Also, they have a safety camera feature for Canada & Europe, but none for the US which is disappointing.

 "OK for $199" 2009-12-14
By Michael Savich (Oxford, Michigan USA)
Received the 765t 12/6/2009, and now had it for a week. Well,...I rated it a 3 star because it will not recognize the second entrance to my neigborhood and it is slow to lock on the satellites. The unit routes me around the entire sub, and I tried both settings for fastest route and shortest route. Same damn route both settings. Today, After my daughters basketball, game 44 miles away from my house, I turned on my garmin in the parking lot and told the family we are going to Outback Steak House. I waited, and waited, and waited for the damn satellite signal. This unit is ssslllloooooww at times to lock on to a signal. Quiet embarrassing, waiting in a parking lot for ALMOST 5 minutes while I have a hungry family asking,...LETS GO!!!!!! I was almost gave it a 2 star but the features and the price made it out to a three star. I paid $199 here at Amazon, and I would of been a little more pissed if I paid $50-100 bucks more a few months back for this unit.

You will be driving blind, while the unit tries to lock on the satellites or you will be in your drive way or parking lot waiting for the signal to lock on,...and yes, I did download the latest firmware.

"Saves me a ton of time and frustration!" 2009-12-13
By Nicholas W. Hahn (St. Paul, MN)
My favorite things about this GPS are the traffic feature, the multi-point routing, and the MP3 player. The traffic is constantly updating and is very accurate. It keeps me out of traffic. As an example, I was able to drive across most of St. Paul, all the way through Minneapolis, and out the the southwestern suburbs in 50 minutes DURING THE PEAK OF RUSH HOUR. This drive would normally take about 45 minutes in good traffic and about 1 1/2 hours in rush hour, but I only was delayed about 5 minutes because of the traffic feature. It is great. Also the multi-point routing is a great time-saving feature as well. It also works great. I enjoy loading up the GPS with MP3's and playing them through my truck's radio, with the navigation directions going through the radio too. My only gripe is that hitting the "back" button half a dozen times gets annoying. They really should have a "menu" and a "map" button visible all the time. That is my only complaint. They could fix that with a firmware update, so if anyone at Garmin reads this, please consider doing that.

 "Garmin nuvi 765T" 2009-12-12
By David R. Bradley (Albany, NY)
The volume and the battery life not good enough for biking. Traffic warnings are not true, I was traveling on I-87, the indicator was yellow where there is often trouble, but the traffic was moving freely, a mile or so later the indicator was red.. still no problem. I have been told to turn where there are no turns yet the highlighted route shows (correctly) to go straight. The route selection is some times obviously wrong. Garmin suggests turning right then left when going straight gets you to the same intersection directly.
